DTC B2282: Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction; DTC B2283: Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction [11/2018 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED METER) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Vehicle Speed Meter Vehicle speed Min.: 0 km/h (0 mph), Max.: 255 km/h (158 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed -

      Body Electrical > Combination Meter > Data List

      HINT: 

      Using a speedometer tester, check the actual vehicle speed and the vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream.

      OK

      Vehicle speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the actual vehicle speed measured using a speedometer tester.

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM (Speedometer Malfunction). Refer to  Speedometer Malfunction [11/2018 - 12/2021]

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Power Source Control / Data List.
    2. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Power Source Control > Data List

      Vehicle Speed Signal Vehicle being driven or stopped Stop or Run Stop: Vehicle stopped
      Run: Vehicle being driven at 5 km/h (3 mph) or more

      The Techstream display changes correctly in response to the vehicle condition.

    Result:

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING). Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - ]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G54 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the G18 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. w/ Telematics Transceiver:

      Disconnect the H6 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.

    4. for Radio and Display Receiver:

      Disconnect the G3 radio and display receiver assembly connector.

    5. w/ Navigation System:

      Disconnect the H7*1 or G15*2 navigation ECU connector.

      1. *1: w/ Occupant Classification System
      2. *2: w/o Occupant Classification System
    6. for 9 Speakers:

      Disconnect the M3 stereo componet amplifier assembly connector.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G18-36 (+S) - G54-19 (SPD) Always Below 1 Ω
      G18-36 (+S) or G54-19 (SPD) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Reconnect the G54 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.
    2. Reconnect the G18 combination meter assembly connector.
    3. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      HINT: 

      The wavelength becomes shorter as the vehicle speed increases.

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM (Speed Signal Circuit). Refer to  Speed Signal Circuit [11/2018 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  Speed Signal Circuit [10/2019 - 08/2020]
