DTC P3107-11: Lost Communication with Airbag System Control Module Circuit Short to Ground [11/2018 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SRS AIRBAG) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DTC CHART (AIRBAG SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2018 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    A

  2. CHECK AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK WAVEFORM) 
    1. Connect an oscilloscope between the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly terminals specified in the table below.
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. Measure the waveform.

      (Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly)      		 - -
      Item Contents
      Terminal A30-29 (ABFS) - A30-3 (E1)
      Equipment Setting 5 V/DIV., 150 ms./DIV.
      Condition Power switch on (READY)

    4. Turn the power switch off.

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL)

    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    Result:

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    A

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [11/2018 - 08/2020]

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  6. CHECK AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the G70 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Airbag Sensor Assembly)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G70-24 (GSW2) - G70-33 (E1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    3. Reconnect the G70 airbag sensor assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A30 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the G70 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A30-29 (ABFS) or G70-24 (GSW2) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      (to Airbag Sensor Assembly)
    4. Reconnect the G70 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    5. Reconnect the A30 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - 02/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
