DTC P0ABF-00: Hybrid/EV Battery Current Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance [06/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY - NO. 1 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2023 - ]

    3. Disconnect the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Disconnect the z26 battery ECU assembly connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z26-24(IB1) - A-2(IB1) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z26-23(GIB) - A-10(GIB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z26-12(IB0) - A-11(IB0) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z26-36(VIB) - A-1(VIB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

    6. Reconnect the z26 battery ECU assembly connector.
    7. Reconnect the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.
    8. Install the No. 1 HV battery hose.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2023 - ]

    3. Disconnect the A No. 2 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Disconnect the z25 battery current sensor connector from the HV battery junction block assembly.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to No. 1 HV Supply Stack Sub-assembly)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to HV Battery Junction Block Assembly (Battery Current Sensor))

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

    6. Reconnect the z25 battery current sensor connector to the HV battery junction block assembly.
    7. Reconnect the A No. 2 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.
    8. Install the upper No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Result

      Proceed to

    REPLACE NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY

    3. Disconnect the z26 battery ECU assembly connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Disconnect the z25 battery current sensor connector from the HV battery junction block assembly.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the tables below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      z26-24(IB1) - z25-2(IB1) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z26-23(GIB) - z25-3(GIB) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω

    6. Reconnect the z25 battery current sensor connector to the HV battery junction block assembly.
    7. Reconnect the z26 battery ECU assembly connector.
    8. Install the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Result

  4. REPLACE HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

  5. CLEAR DTC

  6. PERFORM ROAD TEST 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Hybrid/EV Battery SOC.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Hybrid/EV Battery SOC
    4. Check that "Hybrid/EV Battery SOC" shows 60% or less.

      HINT: 

      If "Hybrid/EV Battery SOC" is 60% or more, reduce it to below 60% by leaving the hybrid system on with shift lever in N.

    5. Apply the parking brake and secure the wheels using chocks.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    7. Move the shift lever to D while depressing the brake pedal with your left foot and repeat the following steps for 1 minute or more.

      HINT: 

      Depress and release the accelerator pedal in 5-second intervals (2.5 seconds each) continuously.

      1. While depressing the brake pedal with your left foot, depress the accelerator pedal with your right foot.
      2. Release the accelerator pedal.
    8. Turn the ignition switch off.

  7. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0ABF-00 is not output. A
      P0ABF-00 is output again. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    COMPLETED

    REPLACE BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2023 - ]

    3. Disconnect the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    4. Check the terminals of the male side of the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      OK

      The terminals are free of foreign matter and not damaged.

      Result

      Proceed to

    5. Reconnect the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.
    6. Install the upper No. 1 HV battery hose.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE NO. 1 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    REPLACE NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 HV SUPPLY STACK SUB-ASSEMBLY - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    3. Disconnect the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

    4. Check the terminals of the male side of the A No. 1 HV supply stack sub-assembly connector.

      OK
