Power Back Door cannot be Operated Using Kick Sensor [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Operate the multi-information display and check the customization status.
      Display Description Default Setting Relevant ECU
      System Settings Function that enables or disables the power back door operation. On On or Off Multiplex network door ECU
      Hands Free Function that can be used to set the hands free power back door. On On or Off Multiplex network door ECU

      Customization item is "On" A
      Customization item is "Off" B

    Result: 

    PERFORM CUSTOMIZE SETTING 

    Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [10/2023 - 11/2024] , or refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [11/2024 - ]

  2. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM 
    1. Check the power back door system.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Power back door system does not operate normally A
      Power back door system operates normally B

    Result: 

    GO TO POWER BACK DOOR CANNOT BE OPERATED FREQUENTLY 

    Refer to Power Back Door cannot be Operated Frequently [10/2023 - ]

  3. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to

  4. REPRODUCE DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for at least 10 seconds.

      Result

  5. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      DTC is output A
      DTC is not output B

    GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer To  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2023 - 11/2024]  , or Refer To  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2024 - ]

  6. READ VALUE USING GTS 
    1. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Data List

  7. READ VALUE USING GTS 
    1. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Data List

      Kick Sensor Detection Status of the kick door control sensor detection OFF or ON OFF: Kick door control sensor not detecting a foot
      ON: Kick door control sensor detecting a foot

      On GTS screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the Q7 kick door control sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the 4D instrument panel junction block assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-6 (LIN) - 4D-17 Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the kick door control sensor connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Kick Door Control Sensor)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-7 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-2 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR - MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the Q7 kick door control sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the R26 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-3 (KSOT) - R26-12 (KSIN) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q7-3 (KSOT) or R26-12 (KSIN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  11. CHECK MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU 
    1. Remove the multiplex network door ECU with the connector(s) still connected.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    2. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Multiplex Network Door ECU)

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Item Condition
      Tester Connection R26-12 (KSIN) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 50 ms./DIV.
      Vehicle Condition Ignition switch ON, kick door control sensor not detecting a foot

      OK

      The waveform displayed is as shown in the illustration.

      Result

    REPLACE KICK DOOR CONTROL SENSOR
