DTC B2220-49: Back Door Motor Internal Electronic Failure [10/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Clear DTCs 

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result:

  2. REPRODUCE DTC 
    1. Perform a power back door open or close operation.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

    Result: 

    NEXT

  3. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Back Door > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      B2220-49 is output A
      B2220-49 is not output B

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - ]

  4. INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY SET LH 
    1. Fully open the back door.
    2. Disconnect the R21 power back door unit assembly set LH connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Power Back Door Unit Assembly Set LH)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R21-1 (BD+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R21-2 (BD-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R21-1 (BD+) - R21-2 (BD-) Always Below 1 MΩ

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY SET LH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY SET RH 
    1. Fully open the back door.
    2. Disconnect the R20 power back door unit assembly set RH connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Power Back Door Unit Assembly Set RH)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R20-1 (BD+2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R20-2 (BD-2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R20-1 (BD+2) - R20-2 (BD-2) Always Below 1 MΩ

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY SET RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    OK

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU - POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY SET LH) 
    1. Disconnect the R29 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the R21 power back door unit assembly set LH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R29-1 (BD+) - R21-1 (BD+) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-3 (BD-) - R21-2 (BD-) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-1 (BD+) or R21-1 (BD+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R29-3 (BD-) or R21-2 (BD-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU - POWER BACK DOOR UNIT ASSEMBLY SET RH) 
    1. Disconnect the R29 multiplex network door ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the R20 power back door unit assembly set RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      R29-6 (BD+2) - R20-1 (BD+2) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-8 (BD-2) - R20-2 (BD-2) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-6 (BD+2) or R20-1 (BD+2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      R29-8 (BD-2) or R20-2 (BD-2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
