Removal [02/2019 - 06/2020]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER (w/ NO. 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER) 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts, 3 clips and No. 1 floor under cover from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

  2. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 08/2020] 

  3. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 12/2021]

  4. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  5. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  7

  6. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  7. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the bolt, nut and rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      Because the nut has its own stopper, do not turn the nut. Loosen the bolt with the nut secured.

  8. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  9. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 06/2020]

  10. REMOVE NO. 2 INVERTER PROTECTOR (w/ NO. 2 INVERTER PROTECTOR) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8 [10/2019 - 06/2020]

  11. DISCONNECT ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5 [10/2019 - 06/2020]

  12. REMOVE CONNECTOR COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10 [10/2019 - 06/2020]

  13. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 11 [10/2019 - 06/2020]

  14. INSTALL CONNECTOR COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 7 [10/2019 - 06/2020]

  15. CONNECT ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 31

  16. INSTALL NO. 2 INVERTER PROTECTOR (w/ NO. 2 INVERTER PROTECTOR) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 16

  17. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

  18. REMOVE CHILD RESTRAINT SEAT ANCHOR BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  19. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Tonneau Cover) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  20. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  21. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 FLOOR BOARD 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  22. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 10

  23. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR MAT SUPPORT SIDE PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

  24. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  25. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  26. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 39

  27. REMOVE TETHER ANCHOR BRACKET SET 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 41

  28. REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 42

  29. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 43

  30. DISCONNECT FLOOR UNDER WIRE 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    NOTE:

    Insulate the disconnected connectors with insulating tape.

      Disengage the clamp.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and HV floor under wire from the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.
      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the terminals, interlock connector or rear traction motor with transaxle assembly during disconnection.
      • Do not touch the waterproof seal or terminals of the connector.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter or water to enter the rear traction motor with transaxle assembly.
      • Although the connector may feel loose, this is not due to a malfunction.

      *a Waterproof Seal
    3. Temporarily install the HV floor under wire as shown in the illustration.

  31. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. w/ Height Control Sensor:

      1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.
    2. w/o Height Control Sensor:

      1. Disconnect the connector.
    3. Remove the grommet of the wire harness and pass the connector through the hole to the outside of the vehicle.
    4. w/ Height Control Sensor:
      1. Disengage the 5 clamps to separate the wire harness.

    5. w/o Height Control Sensor:
      1. Disengage the 4 clamps to separate the wire harness.

    6. Using an engine lifter and 4 attachments or equivalent tools, support the rear suspension member sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
      WARNING:
      • The rear suspension member sub-assembly is a very heavy component. Make sure that it is supported securely.
      • If the rear suspension member sub-assembly is not securely supported, it may drop, resulting in serious injury.

      NOTE:

      Use attachments or equivalent tools to keep the rear suspension member sub-assembly level.

      *a Engine Lifter
      *b Attachment
      Attachment and Wooden Block Placement Location
    7. Remove the 2 bolts, 4 nuts, 2 rear suspension member lower stoppers, rear suspension member lower brace LH and rear suspension member lower brace RH.
    8. Slowly lower the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      NOTE:

      When lowering the rear suspension member sub-assembly, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed to the vehicle.

    9. for TMC Made:
      1. Remove the 4 rear suspension member cushions from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

        HINT: 

        Make sure to place an identification mark on the rear suspension member cushion so that they can be reinstalled to their original positions.

    10. for TMMC Made:
      1. Remove the 2 rear suspension member cushions and 2 upper differential support member stoppers from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

        HINT: 

        Make sure to place an identification mark on the rear suspension member cushion and upper differential support member stopper so that they can be reinstalled to their original positions.

  32. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 17 [10/2019 - 06/2020]

  33. REMOVE REAR TRACTION MOTOR WITH TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19 [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 19 [10/2019 - 06/2020]

  34. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH 

    See step  2

  35. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  36. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 33

  37. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side) 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  38. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNT CUSHION LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 35

  39. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNT CUSHION RH 

    HINT: 

    Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

  40. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION 
    1. Using SST, remove the differential mount cushion.
      • SST: 09316-12010 
      • SST: 09570-24011

      *1 Rear Suspension Member Sub-assembly - -
      *a Turn *b Hold
      Turning Direction Front of Vehicle
      SST Bolt Position - -
      NOTE:
      • Do not bring SST into contact with the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
      • Before using SST, apply grease to SST bolt.
      • Set SST in the correct direction.
      • Do not tilt the bolt of SST.
      • Do not reuse the differential mount cushion.
  41. REMOVE HOLE PLUG 
    1. Remove the 6 hole plugs from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

      HINT: 

      There are 2 different shapes of hole plug.
