DTC P0ABF-28: Hybrid/EV Battery Current Sensor "A" Signal Bias Level Out of Range / Zero Adjustment Failure [02/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      "P0AFC-00, P0AFC-96 or P0A95-63" is not output. A
      "P0AFC-00, P0AFC-96 or P0A95-63" is also output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM)

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY VOLTAGE SENSOR - HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY)

    REPLACE HYBRID BATTERY THERMISTOR 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    Result:

  3. READ VALUE USING GTS (HYBRID/EV BATTERY CURRENT, HYBRID /EV BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 06/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    3. Disconnect the z20 battery current sensor connector.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Procedure1

    6. Read the Data List.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Hybrid/EV Battery Current
      Hybrid/EV Battery Current Sensor Power Supply Voltage

      Standard

      Data List Specified Condition
      Hybrid/EV Battery Current Below -200 A
      Hybrid/EV Battery Current Sensor Power Supply Voltage 4.5 to 5.5 V

      Post-procedure1

    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    9. Reconnect the z20 battery current sensor connector.

    REPLACE BATTERY VOLTAGE SENSOR

  4. REPLACE HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 06/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

  5. SIMULATION TEST 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    5. Drive the vehicle on urban roads for approximately 10 minutes.
    6. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 2 minutes or more.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 10 seconds or more.

      Result

  6. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read output DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      P0ABF-28 is not output. A
      P0ABF-28 is output. B
