DTC P0C30-00: Hybrid/EV Battery State of Charge High [06/2020 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV BATTERY, HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery and Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Trouble Codes 

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      "P0C30-00" only is output. A
      DTCs except "P0C30-00" of hybrid battery system are output. B
      DTCs except "P0C30-00" of hybrid control system are output. C
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - ]

    Result: 

    C 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2021 - 11/2024] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2024 - ]

    Result: 

    A

  2. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA (HV BATTERY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read the freeze frame data of DTC P0C30-00.

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OFF is displayed for "Ready Signal", "SMRP Control Status", "SMRB Control Status" and "SMRG Control Status" and -0.5 A or less is displayed for "Hybrid/EV Battery Current". A
      Other than above B

      HINT: 

      As the ignition switch ON state may cause the DTC to be stored, freeze frame data is used to judge the cause of the DTC output.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    Result: 

    A

  3. INSPECT HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (SMRP, SMRB, SMRG) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON, unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9 [10/2023 - ]

    3. Disconnect the high voltage cable connectors from the HV battery junction block assembly.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (HV Battery Junction Block Assembly)      		 - -

      Standard Resistance (SMRB)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Y3-1 (CBI) - z32-1 (+) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (HV Battery Junction Block Assembly)      		 - -

      Standard Resistance (SMRG, SMRP)

      Y4-1 (CEI) - z21-1 (-) Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    6. Reconnect the high voltage cable connectors to the HV battery junction block assembly.
    7. Install the No. 1 HV battery cover panel RH.

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result:

    REPLACE HV BATTERY JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    Result: 

    OK

  4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (CURRENT SENSOR OFFSET LEARNING) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    3. Perform a road test.
      NOTE:

      Accelerate/decelerate gently. Avoid rapid acceleration/deceleration.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery / Data List / Hybrid/EV Battery Current

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Hybrid Battery Current
    5. Drive the vehicle with the value of Data List item "Hybrid/EV Battery Current" between -50 A to 50 A.

      HINT: 

      Distance and driving time are not specified.

    6. Turn the ignition switch off and leave the vehicle for 30 seconds or more.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery / Data List / Hybrid/EV Battery Current

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Hybrid Battery Current
    9. Check that the value of "Hybrid/EV Battery Current" is between - 0.5 A and 0.5 A with the ignition switch ON.
      NOTE:
      • If the value is outside the specified range, perform the road test again.
      • This DTC may be output if Current Sensor Offset Learning has not been completed.

      HINT: 

      • If the ignition switch is ON and value of "Hybrid/EV Battery Current" is between - 0.5 A and 0.5 A, current sensor offset learning has been completed.
      • Even if the current sensor offset learning is not complete, the current sensor value will be corrected by repeating the road test a maximum of 7 times.
    10. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Result
