DTC P3000-00: Hybrid/EV Battery Discharge Control Malfunction [06/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV BATTERY, HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery and Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Trouble Codes 

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      "P3000-00 or P3000-16" only is output. A
      DTCs except "P3000-00 or P3000-16" of hybrid battery system are output. B
      DTCs except "P3000-00 or P3000-16" of hybrid control system are output. C
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - ]

    Result: 

    C 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2021 - 11/2024] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2024 - ]

    Result: 

    A

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (ENGINE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    GO TO DTC CHART (SFI SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [10/2022 - 11/2024] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2024 - ]

    Result: 

    A

  3. CHECK AMOUNT OF FUEL 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Check the amount of fuel by referring to the fuel gauge in the meter.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Proper amount of fuel is in the tank. A
      There is no fuel in the tank. B

      HINT: 

      Add fuel until the low fuel level warning light turns off.

    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    B 

    REFUEL VEHICLE 

    Result:

  4. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read the freeze frame data item "Shift Position" of DTC P3000-00.

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Trouble Codes 

      Powertrain > HV Battery 

      Tester Display

      NOTE:
      • When the freeze frame data "Shift Position" was N, DTC P3000-00 may be stored due to the vehicle was left with neutral (N) selected and the HV battery could not be charged.
      • If DTC "P3000-00" only is output, charge the HV battery without replacing the HV battery if necessary.
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Result

  5. CHECK ENGINE START 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    2. Check if the engine starts.

      HINT: 

      • Depressing the accelerator pedal with park (P) selected will cause the engine to start.
      • Turning the ignition switch to ON (READY) and off repeatedly while the SOC is low may cause the SOC to drop further, resulting in DTC P3000-16 being stored. Charge the HV battery using the THS charger as necessary.
      • Cranking the engine once causes the SOC to drop approximately 1%.
      • Charging the HV battery once (10 minutes) using the THS charger restores the SOC approximately 2%.

    3. If the engine does not start, turn the ignition switch off.

    LEAVE VEHICLE WITH PARK (P) SELECTED, AND CHARGE HV BATTERY BY IDLING UNTIL IDLING STOPS

  6. CLEAR DTC (HV BATTERY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery / Clear DTCs.
    4. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Clear DTCs 

    5. Perform a road test.

      Result

      Proceed to

    CHARGE HV BATTERY 

    Refer to CHARGING [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to CHARGING [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to CHARGING [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to CHARGING [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to CHARGING [10/2023 - ]

    1. Charge the HV battery using the ths charger, then check that engine starts.
