Rear Motor Resolver Circuit [06/2020 - ]: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY - REAR MOTOR RESOLVER)
    WARNING:

Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the A87 inverter with converter assembly connector.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20 [10/2023 - ]

    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
A87-28 (RRF) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
A87-1 (RRFG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
A87-19 (RSN) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
A87-10 (RSNG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
A87-29 (RCS) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
A87-20 (RCSG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

      NOTE:

Turning the ignition switch to ON with the inverter with converter assembly disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal and wait for 2 minutes or more.
    8. Reconnect the A87 inverter with converter assembly connector.

  2. CHECK REAR MOTOR RESOLVER

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A87-28 (RRF) - A87-1 (RRFG) Ignition switch off 9.2 to 15.2 Ω
      A87-19 (RSN) - A87-10 (RSNG) Ignition switch off 16.6 to 28.4 Ω
      A87-29 (RCS) - A87-20 (RCSG) Ignition switch off 18.5 to 30.4 Ω

      HINT:

To correct the variation of the measured resistance due to temperature, use the following formula to calculate the resistance at 20°C (68°F).

      R20 = Rt / {1 + 0.00393 X (T - 20)}

The calculation is based on the following:

      R20: Resistance at 20°C (68°F) (mΩ)

      Rt: Measured resistance (mΩ)

T: Temperature when the resistance is measured (°C (°F).)

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
A87-28 (RRF) or A87-1 (RRFG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
A87-19 (RSN) or A87-10 (RSNG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
A87-29 (RCS) or A87-20 (RCSG) - Body ground and other terminals Ignition switch off 1 MΩ or higher
