Removal [06/2015 - 11/2018]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

    Refer to PRECAUTION [06/2015 - ]

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

      WARNING:
      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to DISASSEMBLY [06/2015 - 11/2018]

  5. REMOVE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Check that the power switch is off.
    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:
      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the cable from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the door side airbag sensor. Therefore, make sure that the cable from negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal is connected before performing this procedure.

    3. Disconnect the connector.

      1. Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the airbag connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

        *1 Housing Lock *2 CPA
        *3 CPA Upper Part - -
        *a Connector Lock is Released -  
        NOTE:

        When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

        Do not push down the upper parts of the CPA shown in the illustration connecting the airbag connector.

      2. Push down the housing lock again and disconnect the airbag connector.
        NOTE:

        Before connecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

    4. Remove the bolt.

    5. Disengage the guide and remove the door side airbag sensor.
      NOTE:
      • Loosen the bolt while holding the door side airbag sensor because the door side airbag sensor guide is easily damaged.
      • If the door side airbag sensor has been dropped, replace it with a new one.
