DTC B2779: Remote Starter Communication Malfunction [06/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (WIRELESS C CODE) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    6. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Smart Key > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Wireless C Code Registration status between remote engine starter ECU and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) No Regd or Regd No Regd: ID not registered between remote engine start ECU and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)
      Regd: ID registered between remote engine start ECU and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)
      Problems may be caused by the following:
      • DTC B2779 is stored.
      • Remote engine start ECU registration has not been performed.
      • Malfunctions in the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or remote engine start ECU.

      Body Electrical > Smart Key > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Wireless C Code

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      "No Regd" is displayed on the Techstream A
      "Regd" is displayed on the Techstream B

  2. REGISTER REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ID 
    1. Register the remote engine starter ID.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [06/2015 - ]

  3. CHECK REMOTE ENGINE STARTER FUNCTION 
    1. Check the remote engine starter function.

      OK

      Remote engine starter functions operate normally.

      Result

      NG

    Result:

    END (REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ID REGISTRATION WAS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. REPLACE REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU 
    1. Replace the remote engine starter ECU with a new one.
    2. Register the remote engine starter ID.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [06/2015 - ]

    3. Check the remote engine starter function.

      OK

      Remote engine starter functions operate normally.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    END (REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU WAS DEFECTIVE)

  5. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. Replace the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) with a new one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - 11/2018] , or refer to REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

      HINT: 

      Before replacing the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), refer to Registration.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [06/2015 - ]

    2. Check the remote engine starter function.

      OK

      Remote engine starter functions operate normally.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    END (MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) WAS DEFECTIVE) 

    Result:

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2015 - 11/2018]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]
