DTC B15C3: Speaker Output Short [06/2015 - 01/2018]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P48 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the G55 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Disconnect the L11 front No. 1 speaker assembly LH connector.
    4. Disconnect the M3 and M9 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the H5 and H6 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    6. Disconnect the P45 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connector.
    7. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P48-15 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-30 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-11 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-26 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-10 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-25 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-12 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-27 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-14 (TWR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-29 (TWR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-13 (TWL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-28 (TWL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-8 (WF1+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the G55 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the L2 front No. 1 speaker assembly RH connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the DCM (telematics transceiver) and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G55-5 (SPO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G55-6 (SPO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Remove the DCM (telematics transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - 01/2018]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (DCM (Telematics Transceiver))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (SPI+) - 5 (SPO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      3 (SPI-) - 6 (SPO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (SPI+) - 3 (SPI-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      5 (SPO+) - 6 (SPO-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (SPI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (SPI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2015 - 01/2018] 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the P48 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the L2 and L11 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the M3 and M9 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the H5 and H6 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the P45 rear No. 2 speaker assembly connector.
    6. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P48-15 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-30 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-11 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-26 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-10 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-25 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-12 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-27 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-14 (TWR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-29 (TWR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P48-13 (TWL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    1. Remove the front No. 1 speaker assembly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1(+) - 2(-) Always 3.2 to 5.2 Ω

  7. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the rear speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      1(+) - 2(-) Always 3.2 to 5.2 Ω

  8. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the front No. 2 speaker assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *B For LH

      (Front No. 2 Speaker Assembly)

      Standard Resistance (for RH)
