DTC C1AEC: Front Sensor Communication Malfunction [11/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. INITIALIZE FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR AND FRONT CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR 
    1. Initialize the front center ultrasonic sensor and front corner ultrasonic sensor.

      Refer to CALIBRATION [11/2018 - ]

      Result

      Proceed to

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (C1AEC) 
    1. According to the display on the Techstream, check for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Advanced Parking Guidance/ICS/Intuitive P/A > Trouble Codes 

    2. According to the display on the Techstream, clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Advanced Parking Guidance/ICS/Intuitive P/A > Clear DTCs 

    3. Recheck for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Advanced Parking Guidance/ICS/Intuitive P/A > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC C1AEC is output A
      No DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2018 - ]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY - FRONT CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (LH)) 
    1. Disconnect the A29 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the C3 front corner ultrasonic sensor (LH).
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A29-4 (BOF) - C3-4 (BI) Always Below 1 Ω
      A29-8 (SOF) - C3-5 (SI) Always Below 1 Ω
      A29-6 (E5) - C3-6 (EI) Always Below 1 Ω
      A29-4 (BOF) or C3-4 (BI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A29-8 (SOF) or C3-5 (SI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A29-6 (E5) or C3-6 (EI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (LH) - FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (LH)) 
    1. Disconnect the C4 front center ultrasonic sensor (LH).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C3-1 (BO) - C4-4 (BI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C3-2 (SO) - C4-5 (SI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C3-3 (EO) - C4-6 (EI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C3-1 (BO) or C4-4 (BI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C3-2 (SO) or C4-5 (SI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C3-3 (EO) or C4-6 (EI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (LH) - FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (RH)) 
    1. Disconnect the C5 front center ultrasonic sensor (RH).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C4-1 (BO) - C5-4 (BI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C4-2 (SO) - C5-5 (SI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C4-3 (EO) - C5-6 (EI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C4-1 (BO) or C5-4 (BI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C4-2 (SO) or C5-5 (SI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C4-3 (EO) or C5-6 (EI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (RH) - FRONT CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (RH)) 
    1. Disconnect the C6 front corner ultrasonic sensor (RH).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C5-1 (BO) - C6-4 (BI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C5-2 (SO) - C6-5 (SI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C5-3 (EO) - C6-6 (EI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C5-1 (BO) or C6-4 (BI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C5-2 (SO) or C6-5 (SI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C5-3 (EO) or C6-6 (EI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. INSPECT FRONT CORNER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (LH) 
    1. Remove the C3 front corner ultrasonic sensor (LH).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (Front Corner Ultrasonic Sensor (LH))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (BI) - 6 (EI) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      5 (SI) - 2 (SO) Always Below 30 Ω
      6 (EI) - 3 (EO) Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Remove the C4 front center ultrasonic sensor (LH).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition

      5 (SI) - 2 (SO) Always Below 30 Ω
      6 (EI) - 3 (EO) Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Remove the C5 front center ultrasonic sensor (RH).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (BI) - 6 (EI) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      5 (SI) - 2 (SO) Always Below 30 Ω
      6 (EI) - 3 (EO) Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Remove the C6 front corner ultrasonic sensor (RH).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition

      6 (EI) - 3 Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Replace the front corner ultrasonic sensor (LH) with a known good one.
