DTC P2530-12: IG2 Signal Circuit Short to Auxiliary Battery [11/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off and turn on the high beam headlights for 30 seconds. This will remove the surface charge from the auxiliary battery.
    2. Measure the auxiliary battery voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Positive (+) auxiliary battery terminal - Negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal 20°C (68°F), Ignition switch off 12.0 V or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHARGE OR REPLACE AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. Charge or replace the auxiliary battery.

      Result

      Proceed to

  3. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Clear DTCs 

    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      NEXT

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for 15 seconds or more.
    2. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for 2 minutes or more.
    3. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      P2530-12 is output. A
      P2530-12 is not output. B
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2019 - ]

  5. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL) 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      U0129-87, U0140-87, U0151-87, U0164-87, U1107-87 or U1170-87 is output A
      Other than above B
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ]

  6. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Disconnect the H67 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Condition

      Tester Connection Condition
      H67-26 (IGP) - H67-15 (E1) Ignition switch off
    3. Reconnect the H67 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      9 V or higher A
      Below 9 V B

    Result: 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ]

  7. CHECK ECM 
    1. Disconnect the H67 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the A27 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Condition

      Tester Connection Condition
      H67-26 (IGP) - H67-15 (E1) Ignition switch off
    4. Reconnect the A27 ECM connector.
    5. Reconnect the H67 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Result  Proceed to
      9 V or higher A
      Below 9 V B

    Result: 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2023 - ]

  8. INSPECT RELAY (IGP NO. 1) 
    1. Remove the IGP NO. 1 relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 5 Auxiliary battery voltage not applied between terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or higher
      Auxiliary battery voltage applied between terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
    3. Install the IGP NO. 1 relay.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE RELAY (IGP NO. 1) 

    Result: 

    OK

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - IGP NO. 1 RELAY) 
    1. Disconnect the H67 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    2. Remove the IGP NO. 1 relay from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      H67-26 (IGP) - Body ground Ignition switch off 1 V or less
    4. Install the IGP NO. 1 relay.
    5. Reconnect the H67 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    1. Check for intermittent problems.

      Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2019 - ]

      1. Check the connection and terminal contact pressure of the connectors and wire harnesses between the hybrid vehicle control ECU and the IGP NO. 1 relay.
      2. When the ignition switch is ON (READY), jiggle the connectors and wire harnesses between the hybrid vehicle control ECU and the IGP NO. 1 relay.

    Result: 

    NG
