DTC P1585-04: Acceleration Sensor Circuit System Internal Failure [03/2019 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1585-04) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Trouble Codes.

      Powertrain > Transmission > Trouble Codes 

    5. Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      • If any CAN communication system DTCs are output, perform troubleshooting for the CAN communication system first.
      • If any DTCs other than P1585-04 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only DTC P1585-04 is output A
      DTC P1585-04 and other DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [03/2019 - 06/2021]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2021 - 09/2022]  , or refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  2. INSPECT AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (CHECK SENSOR INSTALLATION) 
    1. Check the airbag sensor assembly installation condition.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [03/2019 - 09/2022] , or refer to INSTALLATION [09/2022 - 11/2022]

      OK

      The airbag sensor assembly is not tilted and its installation bolts are tightened to the specified torque, the airbag sensor assembly bracket is not deformed and there are no foreign objects under the airbag sensor assembly.

  3. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I47 airbag sensor assembly connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I47-36 (IG2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
    4. Turn the engine switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I47-33 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      I47-32 (E2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Connect the I47 airbag sensor assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the airbag sensor assembly.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to COMPONENTS [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  5. REINSTALL OR REPLACE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reinstall or replace the airbag sensor assembly.

      Refer to INSTALLATION [03/2019 - 09/2022] , or refer to INSTALLATION [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform Initialization.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [06/2018 - 09/2022] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  7. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED (DTC P1585-04) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Transmission > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Transmission / Trouble Codes.
    8. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Transmission > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      DTCs are not output A
      DTC P1585-04 is output B

  8. REPLACE TCM 
    1. Replace the TCM.

      Refer to COMPONENTS [03/2019 - 09/2024]

    for Registration: Refer to REGISTRATION [06/2018 - 09/2024]
