DTC P0715-31: Input/Turbine Speed Sensor "A" No Signal [03/2019 - 11/2022]: Procedure

  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0715-31) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0715-31 is output A
      DTC P0715-31 and other DTCs are output B

      HINT: 

      If any DTCs other than P0715-31 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [03/2019 - 09/2019] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2019 - 04/2020] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [04/2020 - 06/2020] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 06/2021] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2021 - 09/2022] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [09/2022 - 11/2022]

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (NIM SENSOR SPEED) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Engine Speed and NIM Sensor Speed.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Engine Speed
      NIM Sensor Speed
    5. Start the engine.
    6. With the shift lever in neutral and the clutch pedal released, idle the engine and read the tester display.

      Standard

      Techstream Display Condition Specified Condition
      NIM Sensor Speed
      • Engine idling
      • Shift position: neutral
      • Clutch pedal depressed (clutch engaged)
      The value of the Data List item changes in accordance with the engine speed

      HINT: 

      • If the NIM sensor speed and engine speed match, the transmission revolution sensor is operating correctly.
      • If the NIM sensor speed is 0 rpm even when the engine is running, it is possible that there is an open or short in the transmission revolution sensor circuit.

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

  3. CHECK SENSOR INSTALLATION AND CONDUCT VISUAL INSPECTION (TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR)

    *a Clearance

    HINT: 

    Make sure that the connector is properly connected. If it is not, securely connect it and check for DTCs again.

    1. Visually check the transmission revolution sensor for damage.
    2. Check the transmission revolution sensor installation condition.

      OK

      The transmission revolution sensor does not have any damage and is installed properly.

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    SECURELY REINSTALL OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [06/2018 - 11/2022]

  4. INSPECT INPUT SHAFT 
    1. Inspect the input shaft installation and sensor gear teeth.

      OK

      The input shaft installation and sensor gear teeth are normal.

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INPUT SHAFT 

    Refer to DISASSEMBLY [03/2019 - 11/2022]

    Result: 

    OK

  5. REPLACE TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR 
    1. Replace the transmission revolution sensor.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 11/2022]

  6. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Clear DTCs 

    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

      Result

      Proceed to

  7. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED 
    1. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    2. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.

      Powertrain > Engine > Utility 

      Tester Display
      All Readiness
    3. Input the DTC: P0715-31.
    4. Check the DTC judgment result.

      • System normal
      ABNORMAL
      • DTC judgment completed
      • System abnormal
      INCOMPLETE
      • DTC judgment not completed
      • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions
