DTC P0365-31: Camshaft Position Sensor "B" Bank 1 No Signal [06/2018 - 03/2019]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (DTC P0365-31 AND P0365-11 OR P0365-31) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the DTCs.

      Powertrain > Engine > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC P0365-31 is output A
      DTC P0365-31 and P0365-11 or P0365-15 are output B

      HINT: 

      • If DTC P0365-11or P0365-15 is output, perform troubleshooting for it first.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [01/2019 - 03/2019]

    Result:

  2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE AND INTERNAL RESISTANCE (CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT) AND ECM)

    (to Camshaft Position Sensor (for Exhaust Camshaft))

    HINT: 

    Make sure that the connector is properly connected. If it is not, securely connect it and check for DTCs again.

    1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (for exhaust camshaft) connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C11-3 (VC2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 4.5 to 5.5 V
      C11-1 (VVE+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 3.0 to 5.0 V
    4. Turn the engine switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C11-2 (VVE-) - Body ground Engine switch off Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  3. INSPECT CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT) 
    1. Remove the camshaft position sensor (for exhaust camshaft).

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

    2. Confirm that there is no oil on the connecting parts of the camshaft position sensor (for exhaust camshaft) connector.

      OK

      There is no oil on the connecting parts of the camshaft position sensor (for exhaust camshaft).

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

    Result: 

    OK

  4. INSPECT CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT)

    *a Component without harness connected
    (Camshaft Position Sensor (for Exhaust Camshaft))
    1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (for exhaust camshaft) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (VC2) - 1 (VVE+) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      3 (VC2) - 2 (VVE-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (VVE+) - 2 (VVE-) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - ]

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (FOR EXHAUST CAMSHAFT) - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor (for exhaust camshaft) connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C11-3 (VC2) - C76-113 (VCE1) Always Below 1 Ω
      C11-1 (VVE+) - C76-91 (EV1+) Always Below 1 Ω
      C11-2 (VVE-) - C76-114 (EV1-) Always Below 1 Ω
      C11-3 (VC2) or C76-113 (VCE1) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C11-1 (VVE+) or C76-91 (EV1+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C11-2 (VVE-) or C76-114 (EV1-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2018 - 01/2019] , or refer to REMOVAL [01/2019 - 03/2019]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
