DTC P0914-12: Gear Shift Position Circuit Short to Battery [03/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT ECM (VDD VOLTAGE) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the C73 shift stroke sensor connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C73-2 (VDD) - C73-3 (GND) Ignition switch ON 4.7 to 5.3 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Connect the C73 shift stroke sensor connector.

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT STROKE SENSOR - ECM) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the C73 shift stroke sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the C160 ECM connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C73-4 (VOUT) or C160-124 (SFV) - Other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

      Post-procedure1

    4. Connect the C160 ECM connector.
    5. Connect the C73 shift stroke sensor connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT SHIFT STROKE SENSOR 

    Refer to INSPECTION [09/2022 - 09/2024] , or refer to INSPECTION [09/2024 - ]

    REPLACE SHIFT STROKE SENSOR

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SHIFT STROKE SENSOR - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the C73 shift stroke sensor connector.
    2. Disconnect the C160 ECM connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C73-2 (VDD) or C160-154 (VCSF) - Other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

      Post-procedure1

    4. Connect the C160 ECM connector.
    5. Connect the C73 shift stroke sensor connector.
