DTC B1570: Manual (SOS) Switch Red Indicator Malfunction [04/2018 - 08/2020]: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG) and wait for 10 seconds.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Clear DTCs 

    6. Recheck for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1570, B1571 and B15C5 are output A
      DTC B1570 is output (DTC B1571 and B15C5 are not output) B

  3. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (RED INDICATOR) 
    1. Disconnect the O10 roof console box sub-assembly connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Roof Console Box Sub-assembly)
    2. Connect 2 dry-cell batteries (1.5 V each) in series.
    3. Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 10 (IND1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 16 (GND3) of the roof console box sub-assembly connector.
    4. Check if the illumination for the manual (SOS) switch red indicator comes on.

      OK

      Red indicator comes on.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - ]

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G9 DCM (Telematics Transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the O10 roof console box sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G9-26 (SIG-) - O10-16 (GND3) Always Below 1 Ω
      G9-26 (SIG-) or O10-16 (GND3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G9-11 (IND1) - O10-10 (IND1) Always Below 1 Ω
      G9-11 (IND1) or O10-10 (IND1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Replace the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]

      NOTE:
      • The power switch must be off.
      • Do not swap the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) with one from another vehicle.

      Result

    PERFORM DCM ACTIVATION. Refer to  DCM ACTIVATION [04/2018 - 08/2020] 

  6. CHECK ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH RED INDICATOR CONDITION) 
    1. Confirm the red indicator status after the power switch is turned on (IG).

      Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [04/2018 - 08/2020]

      Result

      Red indicator remains off A
      Red indicator remains on B

  7. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (RED INDICATOR INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Remove the roof console box sub-assembly but do not disconnect the connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2018 - ]

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Roof Console Box Sub-assembly)
    2. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to terminal O10-10 (IND1), and the negative lead to terminal O10-16 (GND3).
    3. Measure the voltage.

      Standard

      1.0 to 8.5 V for 2 seconds after the power switch is turned on (IG).

      0 V when the power switch is off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - ]

  8. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) (RED INDICATOR OUTPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Remove the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) but do not disconnect the connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2018 - ]

      (DCM (Telematics Transceiver))
    2. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to terminal G9-11 (IND1), and the negative lead to body ground.
    3. Measure the voltage.

      Standard

      1.0 to 8.5 V for 2 seconds after the power switch is turned on (IG).

      0 V when the power switch is off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Remove the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) but do not disconnect the connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  10. CHECK DTC 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG) and wait for 10 seconds.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Clear DTCs 

    6. Recheck for DTCs.

      Body Electrical > Telematics > Trouble Codes

  11. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (RED INDICATOR) 
    1. Disconnect the O9 roof console box sub-assembly connector.

    2. Connect 2 dry-cell batteries (1.5 V each) in series.
    3. Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 7 (IND1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 12 (GND3) of the roof console box sub-assembly connector.
    4. Check if the illumination for the manual (SOS) switch red indicator comes on.

      OK

      Red indicator comes on.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - ]

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G9 DCM (Telematics Transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the O9 roof console box sub-assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G9-26 (SIG-) - O9-12 (GND3) Always Below 1 Ω
      G9-26 (SIG-) or O9-12 (GND3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G9-11 (IND1) - O9-7 (IND1) Always Below 1 Ω
      G9-11 (IND1) or O9-7 (IND1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  13. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Replace the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [04/2018 - 08/2020]

      NOTE:
      • The power switch must be off.
      • Do not swap the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) with one from another vehicle.

  14. CHECK ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (MANUAL (SOS) SWITCH RED INDICATOR CONDITION) 
    1. Confirm the red indicator status after the power switch is turned on (IG).

      Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION [04/2018 - 08/2020]

  15. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (RED INDICATOR INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Remove the roof console box sub-assembly but do not disconnect the connectors.

    2. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to terminal O9-7 (IND1), and the negative lead to terminal O9-12 (GND3).
    3. Measure the voltage.

      Standard

      1.0 to 8.5 V for 2 seconds after the power switch is turned on (IG).

      0 V when the power switch is off.

      Result

      Proceed to

    REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [04/2018 - ]

  16. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) (RED INDICATOR OUTPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Remove the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) but do not disconnect the connectors.

    2. Connect the positive lead of a voltmeter to terminal G9-11 (IND1), and the negative lead to body ground.
    3. Measure the voltage.

      Standard

      1.0 to 8.5 V for 2 seconds after the power switch is turned on (IG).
