On-Vehicle Inspection [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

- INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and step on the brake pedal.
- Confirm that the shift lever moves smoothly through all of the shift positions and the position indicator shows the correct shift lever position.
- Start the engine and confirm that the vehicle moves forward when the shift lever is moved from N to D.
- If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.
- INSPECT SHIFT LOCK OPERATION
- Move the shift lever to P.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Check that the shift lever cannot be moved from P.
- Check that the shift lever can be moved from P when the ignition switch is ON and the brake pedal is depressed.
- If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.
- INSPECT SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON OPERATION
- Move the shift lever to P.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Remove the shift lever cap.
- Press the shift lock release button and check that the shift lever can be moved to any position from P.
- If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.
- INSPECT KEY INTERLOCK OPERATION (w/o Smart Key System)
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Step on the brake pedal and check that the shift lever can be moved to any other position from P.
- Check that the ignition switch cannot be turned to the LOCK position.
- Move the shift lever to P, rotate the ignition key to the LOCK position, and check that the ignition key can be removed.
- If the operation cannot be done as specified, inspect the shift lock control unit.
