DTC P0724: Brake Switch "B" Circuit High [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Stop Light Switch.
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream when the brake pedal is depressed and released.

      OK

      Techstream Display Measurement Item: Range Normal Condition
      Stop Light Switch Stop light switch assembly status:
      ON or OFF
      • ON: Brake pedal depressed
      • OFF: Brake pedal released

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    (Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

    Result: 

    NG

  2. CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION 
    1. Check the stop light switch assembly installation (Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2015 - ] ).

      OK

      Stop light switch assembly is installed correctly.

    Result: 

    NG 

    SECURELY REINSTALL STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the stop light switch assembly (for Bulb Type Stop Light) (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - ] ).
    2. Inspect the stop light switch assembly (for LED Type Stop Light) (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [12/2015 - ] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A39-36 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed 7.5 to 14 V
      A39-36 (STP) - Body ground Brake pedal released 0 to 1.5 V

      *b Brake pedal released
      *c Front view of wire harness connector
      (to ECM)

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
