DTC P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPEED) 
    1. Drive the vehicle and check whether the operation of the speedometer in the combination meter assembly is normal.

      HINT: 

      • The vehicle speed sensor is operating normally if the speedometer reading is normal.
      • If the speedometer does not operate, check it by following the procedure described for a speedometer malfunction.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Vehicle Speed.
    6. Drive the vehicle.
    7. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Values displayed on Techstream and speedometer display not equal A
      Values displayed on Techstream and speedometer display equal B

    Result: 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

  2. CHECK COMBINATION METER SYSTEM (SPEED SIGNAL CIRCUIT) 
    1. Inspect the circuits that send vehicle speed signals to this system in the meter system (Refer to Speed Signal Circuit [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).

  3. CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    7. Start the engine and warm it up.
    8. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

      HINT: 

      If no DTCs (no pending DTCs) are output to the Techstream, the repair has been successfully completed.
