DTC P0443: Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (PURGE VSV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

    2. Remove the purge hose of the purge VSV from the canister.
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Purge Hose (to Canister)
      *2 Purge VSV
    3. Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Activate the VSV for Evap Control.
    5. Check if air is sucked into the port when operating the purge VSV using the Techstream.

      OK

      Techstream Operation Specified Condition
      Purge VSV is on Suction of air
      Purge VSV is off No suction of air

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    (Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

    Result: 

    NG

  2. INSPECT PURGE VSV 
    1. Inspect the purge VSV (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE PURGE VSV 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT PURGE VSV (POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B22-1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      (to Purge VSV)

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (PURGE VSV - EFI MAIN RELAY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PURGE VSV - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B22-2 (Purge VSV) - B1-63 (PRG) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B22-2 (Purge VSV) or B1-63 (PRG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
