Starter Signal Circuit [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Starter Signal.
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream when the ignition switch is turned ON and the engine is started.

      OK

  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH (B - L) 
    1. Inspect the park/neutral position switch (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - 08/2016] for 2WD. Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - 08/2016] for AWD).
      RESULT

    Result: 

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH (FOR 2WD) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

    REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH (FOR AWD) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

  3. INSPECT IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY (AM2 - ST2) 
    1. Inspect the ignition switch assembly (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 08/2016] )

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition switch assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D27-8 (ST2) - B3-4 (B) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D27-8 (ST2) or B3-4 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - ST RELAY - ECM) 
    1. Remove the ST relay from the engine room relay block.
    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
    3. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (ST relay holder) - A39-46 (STA) Always Below 1 Ω
      2 (ST relay holder) - B3-9 (L) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (ST relay holder) or A39-46 (STA) - body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (ST relay holder) or B3-9 (L) - body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  6. INSPECT BATTERY 
    1. Check that the battery is not depleted.

      OK

      Battery is not depleted.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE BATTERY 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK BATTERY TERMINAL 
    1. Check that the battery terminal are not loose or corroded.

      OK

      Battery terminals are not loose or corroded.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE STARTER CIRCUIT (STARTER ASSEMBLY - ST RELAY)

    NG
