Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode [11/2017 - ]: Procedure
- CHECK CAN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY) BRANCH WIRE)
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Disconnect the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition D22-4 (CANH) - D22-3 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Front view of wire harness connector
(to Steering Angle Sensor (Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly))
Result:
NG
REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE CONNECTED TO STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY)
Result:
OK
See step 2
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY) - POWER SOURCE)
- Disconnect the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition D22-2 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.NOTE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2017 - ] )
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition D22-5 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Front view of wire harness connector
(to Steering Angle Sensor (Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly))
Result:
OK
REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY)
(Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )
Result:
NG
REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- Disconnect the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) connector.
