Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode [11/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN BUS LINE FOR DISCONNECTION (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY) BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D22-4 (CANH) - D22-3 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Steering Angle Sensor (Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly))

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE CONNECTED TO STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY) - POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the steering angle sensor (spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D22-2 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2017 - ] )

    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D22-5 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

      (to Steering Angle Sensor (Spiral Cable with Sensor Sub-assembly))

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY) 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
