Adjustment [08/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION 
    1. Move the shift lever to N.
    2. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector and shift lock control ECU connector.

    3. Disengage the clamp to separate the wire harness from the shift lever assembly.
    4. Remove the 4 nuts and shift lever assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement.
    5. Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly.

    6. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable assembly.

      NOTE:

      Do not remove the stopper. If the stopper is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    7. Rotate the nut of the transmission control cable assembly counterclockwise approximately 270° and while holding the nut in that position, separate the cable outer of the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever retainer.

    8. Rotate the nut of the transmission control cable assembly counterclockwise approximately 270° and while holding the nut in that position, press in the stopper until it makes 2 "click" sounds.

    9. Push the lock piece up from the back side of the adjuster case while pinching the claws on the lock piece.

    10. Check that the park/neutral position switch and the shift lever are in N position.
    11. Install the cable outer of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever retainer, check that the position of the spring is the same as A shown in the illustration, and press in the stopper.

      HINT: 

      If the stopper cannot be pressed in, slightly rotate the nut clockwise and then press in the stopper.

    12. Connect the end of the transmission control cable assembly to the shift lever assembly.

      *1 Lock Piece
      NOTE:

      Check that the lock piece is pulled up.

    13. Install the shift lever assembly to the instrument panel reinforcement with the 4 nuts.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

    14. Engage the clamp to install the wire harness to the shift lever assembly.
    15. Connect the shift lock control ECU connector and transmission control switch connector.
    16. Press in and lock the lock piece to the adjuster case.

      NOTE:
      • Check that the park/neutral position switch and shift lever are in N position.
      • Securely press in the lock piece until the lock engages.
  2. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
