On-Vehicle Inspection [12/2015 - 08/2016]: Procedure

- INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL
- Warm up and stop the engine, then wait for 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the low level and full level marks on the engine oil level dipstick.
If the engine oil level is low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.
NOTE:Do not add engine oil to above the full level mark.
HINT:
A certain amount of engine oil will be consumed while driving. In the following situations, oil consumption may increase, and engine oil may need to be refilled in between oil maintenance intervals.
- When the engine is new, for example directly after purchasing the vehicle or after replacing the engine.
- If low quality oil or oil of an inappropriate viscosity is used.
- When driving at high engine speed or with a heavy load, (when towing, or), when driving while accelerating or decelerating frequently.
- When leaving the idling for a long time, or when driving frequently through heavy traffic.
When judging the amount of oil consumption, keep in mind that the oil may have become diluted, making it difficult to judge the true level accurately.

- INSPECT ENGINE OIL
- Check the engine oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.
If the condition is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and oil filter element.
- Check the engine oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.
- INSPECT OIL PRESSURE
- Remove the engine oil pressure switch assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).
- Install the oil pressure gauge with the adapter.TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION
*A w/ Oil Cooler *B w/o Oil Cooler - Warm up the engine.
- Check the oil pressure.
Standard Oil Pressure
Engine Condition Oil Pressure Idle 80 kPa (0.8 kgf/cm2 , 11.6 psi) or more 3000 rpm 380 kPa (3.9 kgf/cm2 , 55 psi) or more If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump (Refer to INSPECTION [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).
- Remove the oil pressure gauge with the adapter.
- Install the engine oil pressure switch assembly (Refer to INSTALLATION [12/2015 - 08/2016] ).
