Main Body ECU Communication Stop Mode [12/2015 - 11/2017]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work (Refer to PRECAUTION [12/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to PRECAUTION [08/2016 - ] ).

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistances of the main wire and the branch wire.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [08/2016 - 11/2017] )

    Result:

  3. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D13-14 (CANH) - D13-13 (CANL) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU))
    3. Reconnect the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) connector.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE CONNECTED TO MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) (CAN-H, CAN-L) 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY - POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the instrument panel block connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2D-28 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2F-40 - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (IG SIGNAL CIRCUIT) 
    1. Check the IG signal circuit (Refer to IG Signal Circuit [12/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to IG Signal Circuit [08/2016 - ] ).

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [12/2015 - ] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2 )
