DTC B1835-58: Short in Front Passenger Side Curtain Shield Squib Circuit; DTC B1836-58: Open in Front Passenger Side Curtain Shield Squib Circuit; DTC B1837-58: Short to GND in Front Passenger Side Curtain Shield Squib Circuit; DTC B1838-58: Short to B+ in Front Passenger Side Curtain Shield Squib Circuit [08/2015 - 08/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connector is properly connected to the curtain shield airbag RH.

      OK

      The connector is properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connector is not connected securely, reconnect the connector and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connector from the curtain shield airbag RH.
    5. Check that the No. 2 floor wire connector (on the curtain shield airbag RH side) is not damaged.

      OK

      The lock button is not disengaged, or the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG RH (CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB RH) 
    1. Connect the white wire side of SST (resistance: 2.1 Ω) to connector C.

      WARNING:

      Never connect the tester to the curtain shield airbag RH (curtain shield squib RH) for measurement, as this may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.

      NOTE:
      • Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting SST.
      • Insert SST straight into the terminals of the connector.
      • SST: 09843-18061 
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

      OK

      DTC B1835, B1836, B1837, B1838 or 58 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1835, B1836, B1837, B1838 and 58 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY RH 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2019] )

    Result: 

    NG

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect SST from connector C.
    4. Check that the connector is properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly.

      OK

      The connector is properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connector is not connected securely, reconnect the connector and proceed to the next inspection.

    5. Disconnect the connector from the center airbag sensor assembly.
    6. Check that the terminal of the connector is not damaged.

      OK

      The terminal is not deformed or damaged.

    7. Check that the short spring for the No. 2 floor wire connector with the activation prevention mechanism is not deformed or damaged.

      OK

      The short spring is not deformed or damaged.

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (CURTAIN SHIELD SQUIB RH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      P2-2 (ICR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      P2-1 (ICR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P2-2 (ICR+) - P2-1 (ICR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector B (Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P2-2 (ICR+) - P2-1 (ICR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      P2-2 (ICR+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      P2-1 (ICR-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Restore the released activation prevention mechanism of connector B to the original condition.

    2. Connect the connectors to the curtain shield airbag RH and the center airbag sensor.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Clear the DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    8. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

      OK

      DTC B1835, B1836, B1837, B1838 or 58 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1835, B1836, B1837, B1838 and 58 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    Result: 

    OK 

    USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK 

    (Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2015 - 08/2017] )

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
