DTC B1690-15: Driver Side Door Side Airbag Sensor Malfunction; DTC B1695-16: Passenger Side Door Side Airbag Sensor Malfunction [08/2015 - 08/2017]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1695-16 is output A
      DTC B1690-15 is output B
      DTC B1690-15 and B1695-16 are not output C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than past DTC B1690-15 and B1695-16 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the side airbag sensor RH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

    Result: 

    NG 

    CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and side airbag sensor RH.
    2. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and the side airbag sensor RH side) are not damaged (Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).

      OK

      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  4. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT

    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L10-4 (BBR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      L10-3 (BBR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    6. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and side airbag sensor RH.
    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 8 (BBP+) and 11 (BBP-) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L10-4 (BBR+) - L10-3 (BBR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect the service wire from the connector B.
    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  5. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH 
    1. Interchange the side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1695-16 is output A
      DTC B1690-15 is output B
      DTC B1690-15 and B1695-16 are not output C
    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    10. Return the side airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    Result:

    REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH

    2. Check that the connectors (on the rear airbag sensor RH side) is not damaged (Refer to ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE [08/2015 - 08/2019] ).

      OK

      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  8. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT

    1. Connect the negative (-) terminal to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      L10-1 (BCR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      L10-2 (BCR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    6. Disconnect the connectors from the side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH.
    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 (BCR+) and 1 (BCR-) of connector E.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      L10-1 (BCR+) - L10-2 (BCR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect the service wire from the connector E.
    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  9. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Disconnect the rear airbag sensor RH connector.
    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

      OK

      DTC B1695-16 is output.

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

  10. CHECK NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - FRONT DOOR WIRE RH)

    1. Disconnect the No. 2 floor wire connector from the door wire RH.
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      LP1-4 (BBR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      LP1-3 (BBR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 8 (BBP+) and 11 (BBP-) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      LP1-4 (BBR+) - LP1-3 (BBR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

  11. CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH - NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE)

    1. Disconnect the No. 2 floor wire connector from the door wire RH.
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L10-1 (BCR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      L10-2 (BCR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 (BCR+) and 1 (BCR-) of connector C.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the side airbag sensor LH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

  13. CHECK CONNECTORS

    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 8 (BBD+) and 15 (BBD-) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      M12-4 (BBL+) - M12-3 (BBL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect the service wire from the connector B.
    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    9. Disconnect the service wire from the connector E.

    4. Connect the negative (-) terminal to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    6. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).
    7. Turn the ignition switch off.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    9. Check for DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2017] ).

      OK

      DTC B1690-15 is output.

    Result:

  20. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - FRONT DOOR WIRE LH)

    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the door wire LH.
    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      MO1-4 (BBL+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      MO1-3 (BBL-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 8 (BBD+) and 15 (BBD-) of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
