DTC B2779: Engine Starter Communication Malfunction [08/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check for CAN communication system DTCs.

      Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2019 - ]

      OK

      CAN communication DTCs are not output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [08/2019 - ]

    OK

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (WIRELESS C CODE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      SMART KEY

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Wireless C Code Registration status between remote engine starter ECU and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)/
      No Regd or Regd
      No Regd: Remote starter ID not registered to remote engine start ECU and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)
      Regd: Remote starter ID registered to remote engine start ECU and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly)
      Problems may be caused by the following:
      • DTC B2779 is stored.
      • Remote engine start ECU registration has not been performed.
      • Malfunctions in the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or remote engine start ECU.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      "No Regd" is displayed on the Techstream A
      "Regd" is displayed on the Techstream B

  3. REGISTER REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ID 
    1. Register the remote engine starter ID.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Registration.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [08/2019 - ]

  4. CHECK REMOTE ENGINE STARTER FUNCTION 
    1. Check the remote engine starter function.

      OK

      Remote engine starter functions operate normally.

    END (REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ID WAS NOT REGISTERED)

  5. CHECK REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU 
    1. Temporarily replace the remote engine starter ECU with a new one.
    2. Register the remote engine starter ID.

      HINT: 

      Refer to Registration.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [08/2019 - ]

    3. Check the remote engine starter function.

      OK

      Remote engine starter functions operate normally.

      Result

      Proceed to

    END (REMOTE ENGINE STARTER ECU WAS DEFECTIVE)

  6. CHECK MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) 
    1. Replace the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) with a new one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]

    2. Check the remote engine starter function.

      OK

      Remote engine starter functions operate normally.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    END (MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU) WAS DEFECTIVE)

    REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2019 - ]
