Inspection [08/2015 - 08/2018]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT GENERATOR ROTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the rotor for an open circuit.

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        FOR 130 A TYPE

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        Slip ring - Slip ring 20°C (68°F) 2.3 to 2.7 Ω
        FOR 150 A TYPE

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        Slip ring - Slip ring 20°C (68°F) 1.5 to 1.9 Ω
        FOR 180 A TYPE

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        Slip ring - Slip ring 20°C (68°F) 1.4 to 1.8 Ω

        If the result is not as specified, replace the rotor assembly.

    2. Check if the rotor is grounded.

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        Slip ring - Rotor Always 10 kΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the rotor assembly.

    3. Check that the slip rings are not rough or scored.

      If rough or scored, replace the rotor assembly.

    4. Using a vernier caliper, measure the slip ring diameter.

      Standard diameter

      14.2 to 14.4 mm (0.559 to 0.567 in.)

      Minimum diameter

      14.0 mm (0.551 in.)

      If the diameter is less than the minimum, replace the rotor assembly.

  2. INSPECT GENERATOR BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

    1. Using a vernier caliper, measure the exposed brush length.

      Standard exposed length

      10.5 mm (0.413 in.)

      Minimum exposed length

      4.5 mm (0.177 in.)

      If the exposed length is less than the minimum, replace the brush holder assembly.

  3. INSPECT GENERATOR DRIVE END FRAME BEARING 
    1. When rotating the bearing, check that there is no abnormal noise and that it rotates smoothly.

      If necessary, replace the bearing.

  4. REPLACE GENERATOR DRIVE END FRAME BEARING

    1. Remove the 4 screws and retainer plate.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, tap out the bearing.

      • SST: 09950-60010 
        1. 09951-00250
      • SST: 09950-70010 
        1. 09951-07100
    3. for 130 A, 150 A Type:

      Install the generator drive end frame bearing.

        Using SST and a press, press in a new bearing.

        • SST: 09950-60010 
          1. 09951-00470
        • SST: 09950-70010 
          1. 09951-07100

        Install the retainer plate with the 4 screws.

        Torque: 2.3 N.m (23 kgf/cm, 20 in.lbf) 

    4. for 180 A Type:

      Install the generator drive end frame bearing.

        Using SST and a press, press in a new bearing.

        • SST: 09950-60010 
          1. 09951-00500
        • SST: 09950-70010 
          1. 09951-07100

        Install the retainer plate with the 4 screws.

        Torque: 3.0 N.m (30 kgf/cm, 26 in.lbf) 

  5. INSPECT GENERATOR ROTOR BEARING 
    1. When rotating the bearing, check that there is no abnormal noise and that it rotates smoothly.

      If necessary, replace the generator rotor.
