DTC P0617: Starter Relay Circuit High [08/2017 - 08/2018]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / Starter Signal.
    4. Check the value displayed on the Techstream when the ignition switch is turned to the ON and START positions.

      OK

      Ignition Switch Position Starter Signal
      ON OFF
      START ON

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    (Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [08/2015 - 08/2018] )

    Result: 

    NG

  2. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the D21 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (B) - 5 (L) Shift lever position P Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever position N Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever position not on P or N 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (RB) - 5 (L) All positions 10 kΩ or higher
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK B

  3. REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the park/neutral position switch assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - ] ).

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / Starter Signal.
    4. Check the value displayed on the Techstream when the ignition switch is turned to the ON and START positions.

      OK

      START ON

    Result: 

    OK 

    SYSTEM OK

  5. INSPECT IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    1. Disconnect the H10 ignition switch assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      5 (AM2) - 7 (ST2) Ignition switch position LOCK 10 kΩ or higher
      Ignition switch position START Below 1 Ω
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK B

  6. REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the ignition switch assembly (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2018] ).

  7. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the Techstream on.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / All Data / Starter Signal.
    4. Check the value displayed on the Techstream when the ignition switch is turned to the ON and START positions.

      OK

  8. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (PNP SWITCH - STA TERMINAL OF ECM)

  9. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Clear DTCs (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2015 - 08/2018] ).
    5. Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    7. Read DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      P0617 is output A
      No DTC is output B

    Result: 

    REPLACE ECM 

    (Refer to REMOVAL [08/2015 - 08/2018] )

    SYSTEM OK
