Tachometer Malfunction [08/2019 - ]: Procedure

1. Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally (Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2019 - ] ).
   RESULT:

GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

(Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2017 - ] )

Result: 

A

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
3. Turn the Techstream on.
4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
5. According to the display on the Techstream, perform the Active Test.
   COMBINATION METER
   
   

   Tester Display	Test Part	Control Range	Diagnostic Note
   Tacho Meter Operation	Tachometer	0, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 or 7000	-

   OK

   Needle indication is normal.

   HINT: 

   Confirm that the vehicle is stopped and engine idling.

NG 

REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

(Refer to REMOVAL [08/2017 - ] )

Result: 

OK

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
3. Turn the Techstream on.
4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
   COMBINATION METER
   
   

   Tester Display	Measurement Item/Range	Normal Condition	Diagnostic Note
   Engine Rpm	Engine speed/Min.: 0, Max.: 12750	Idling: 650 to 750	Unit: rpm

   OK

   Engine speed displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as that of the tachometer reading.

REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

(Refer to REMOVAL [08/2017 - ] )

NG

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
3. Turn the Techstream on.
4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List.
5. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
   ENGINE
