Replacement [08/2015 - ]: Procedure
- REPLACE BRAKE FLUID
- Replace the brake fluid.
- Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
- Add brake fluid into the reservoir between MAX and MIN level on the brake fluid reservoir.
Brake fluid
SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT3
- Depress the brake pedal several times and loosen the bleeder plug. With the brake pedal depressed, bleed fluid from the front disc brake caliper RH and LH.
- After bleeding the fluid, tighten the bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.
Torque: 11 N.m (110 kgf/cm, 8 ft.lbf)
- Depress the brake pedal several times and loosen the bleeder plug. With the brake pedal depressed, bleed fluid from the rear disc brake caliper RH and LH.
- After bleeding the fluid, tighten the bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.
Torque: 11 N.m (110 kgf/cm, 8 ft.lbf)
- Check and bleed brake system.
- If the following malfunction symptoms occur, air may have entered the brake fluid line. Perform the following air bleed procedures.
- Low pedal or spongy pedal.
- Brake pedal is depressed firmly but braking is insufficient.
- If the following malfunction symptoms occur, air may have entered the brake fluid line. Perform the following air bleed procedures.
- Inspect for brake fluid leak.
- Check and adjust brake fluid level in reservoir (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [08/2015 - ] ).
- Replace the brake fluid.
