Replacement [08/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. REPLACE BRAKE FLUID 
    1. Replace the brake fluid.
      1. Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir filler cap assembly.
      2. Add brake fluid into the reservoir between MAX and MIN level on the brake fluid reservoir.

        Brake fluid

        SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT3

      3. Depress the brake pedal several times and loosen the bleeder plug. With the brake pedal depressed, bleed fluid from the front disc brake caliper RH and LH.
      4. After bleeding the fluid, tighten the bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.

        Torque: 11 N.m (110 kgf/cm, 8 ft.lbf) 

      5. Depress the brake pedal several times and loosen the bleeder plug. With the brake pedal depressed, bleed fluid from the rear disc brake caliper RH and LH.
      6. After bleeding the fluid, tighten the bleeder plug and release the brake pedal.

        Torque: 11 N.m (110 kgf/cm, 8 ft.lbf) 

    2. Check and bleed brake system.
      1. If the following malfunction symptoms occur, air may have entered the brake fluid line. Perform the following air bleed procedures.
        • Low pedal or spongy pedal.
        • Brake pedal is depressed firmly but braking is insufficient.
    3. Inspect for brake fluid leak.
    4. Check and adjust brake fluid level in reservoir (Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [08/2015 - ] ).
