Installation [08/2017 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY 
  2. INSTALL BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the clevis.
    2. Install a new brake booster gasket to the brake booster.
    3. Install the brake booster with the 4 nuts.

      Torque: 15.2 N.m (155 kgf/cm, 11 ft.lbf) 

  3. INSTALL PUSH ROD PIN 

    See step  5

  4. INSTALL NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  8

  5. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [08/2015 - ]

  6. CONNECT VACUUM HOSE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the vacuum hose onto the check valve.
      NOTE:

      Do not use lubricant when installing a vacuum hose on the brake booster and check valve sides.

  7. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [08/2017 - ] 

  8. CONNECT BRAKE TUBE 
    1. Set each brake line to the correct position on the brake actuator as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      • *1: FR RH
      • *2: FR LH
      • *3: RR RH
      • *4: RR LH
      • *5: FR Master Cylinder
      • *6: RR Master Cylinder
    2. Using a union nut wrench, tighten the 2 brake tubes.

      *a Torque Wrench Fulcrum Length
      *b Union Nut Wrench

      Specified tightening torque 

      Torque: 19.5 N.m (199 kgf/cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

      HINT: 

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2017 - 08/2019] , or refer to PRECAUTION [08/2019 - ]

      • When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 20 mm (0.787 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 180 mm (7.087 in.)): 17.6 N.m (179 kgf/cm, 13 ft.lbf)
    3. Using a union nut wrench, tighten the 4 brake tubes.

      Specified tightening torque 

      Torque: 15.2 N.m (155 kgf/cm, 11 ft.lbf) 

      HINT: 

      • Calculate the torque wrench reading when changing the fulcrum length of the torque wrench.

        Refer to PRECAUTION [08/2017 - 08/2019] , or refer to PRECAUTION [08/2019 - ]

      • When using a union nut wrench (fulcrum length of 22 mm (0.866 in.)) + torque wrench (fulcrum length of 162 mm (6.378 in.)): 13.4 N.m (137 kgf/cm, 10 ft.lbf)
    4. Attach the clamp.
    5. Attach the 4 claws and connect the 2 No. 2 brake tube clamps.
  9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to

    INITIALIZATION [08/2017 - 08/2018] , or refer to

    INITIALIZATION [08/2018 - 08/2019] , or refer to

    INITIALIZATION [08/2019 - ]

  10. CHECK AND ADJUST BRAKE PEDAL 
    1. Check and adjust brake pedal (Refer to ADJUSTMENT [08/2017 - ] ).
  11. INSPECT BRAKE BOOSTER

  12. BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM
