Pattern Select Switch EV Mode Circuit [02/2019 - ]: Procedure

  1. ASK ABOUT VEHICLE CONDITION 
    1. Check if a buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on the multi-information display when attempting to enter EV mode.

      Result

      No buzzer sounded and no message was displayed on multi-information display. A
      A buzzer sounded and a message was displayed on multi-information display. B

      HINT: 

      If a buzzer sounds or a message is displayed on the multi-information display, one or more of the EV mode entry conditions have not been met. Check that all of the EV mode entry conditions have been met before pressing the EV mode switch.

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

      CAN Bus Check 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed. A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [02/2019 - ]

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    5. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    6. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [02/2019 - 06/2020]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 12/2021]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2021 - 11/2024]  , or Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2024 - ]

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (EV MODE, EV MODE SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / EV Mode, EV Mode Switch.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      EV Mode
      EV Mode Switch
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      EV Mode EV mode transition availability ON or OFF In EV mode:
      ON
      EV Mode Switch EV mode switch (integration control and panel assembly) condition ON or OFF EV mode switch (integration control and panel assembly) being pushed and held:

      OFF

    6. Turn the ignition switch off.

  5. INSPECT EV MODE SWITCH (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY) 

    Refer to INSPECTION [11/2018 - ]

    REPLACE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EV MODE SWITCH (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY) - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the G32 EV mode switch (integration control and panel assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G32-13 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Reconnect the G32 EV mode switch (integration control and panel assembly) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - EV MODE SWITCH (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the A30 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the G32 EV mode switch (integration control and panel assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A30-33 (EVSW) - G32-6 (S) Always Below 1 Ω
      A30-33 (EVSW) or G32-6 (S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the G32 EV mode switch (integration control and panel assembly) connector.
    5. Reconnect the A30 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 10/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
