Grille Shutter does not Operate [02/2019 - 12/2021]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR FOREIGN OBJECT 
    1. Check that the radiator shutter sub-assembly is free of foreign matter and ice.

      OK

      The radiator shutter sub-assembly is free of foreign matter and ice.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    FOREIGN OBJECT (REMOVE FOREIGN MATTER AND/OR ICE) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIATOR SHUTTER SUB-ASSEMBLY - POWER SUPPLY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the radiator shutter sub-assembly connector.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Radiator Shutter Sub-assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A50-4 (+B) - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A50-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. INSPECT RADIATOR SHUTTER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the A radiator shutter sub-assembly connector.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Radiator Shutter Sub-assembly)
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A50-4 (+B) - A-1 (+B) Always Below 1 Ω
      A50-4 (+B) or A-1 (+B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A50-1 (GND) - A-3 (GND) Always Below 1 Ω
      A50-1 (GND) or A-3 (GND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE RADIATOR SHUTTER SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 12/2021] 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Grille Shutter / Active Test.
    5. According to the display on the Techstream, perform the Active Test to open and close the grille shutter.

      Body Electrical > Grille Shutter > Active Test

      Shutter Closing Operation Lock Detection Function to perform a closing operation until motor lock is detected and the motor stops OFF/Close -

      Body Electrical > Grille Shutter > Active Test

    6. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Grille Shutter / Data List.
    7. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.

      Body Electrical > Grille Shutter > Data List

  5. CHECK RADIATOR SHUTTER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the radiator shutter sub-assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [02/2019 - 12/2021]

    2. Remove the swing grille actuator assembly.

      Refer to DISASSEMBLY [11/2018 - 12/2021]

    3. Manually open and close the radiator shutter sub-assembly and check that it moves smoothly.

      OK

      The radiator shutter sub-assembly moves smoothly.

      Result

      Proceed to

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE SWING GRILLE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY [11/2018 - 12/2021]

    REPLACE RADIATOR SHUTTER SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [02/2019 - 12/2021]
