DTC P0597-12: Thermostat Heater Control Circuit Short to Battery [08/2020 - 12/2021]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE THERMOSTAT HEATER (WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT SUB-ASSEMBLY) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THERMOSTAT HEATER (WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT SUB-ASSEMBLY) - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the thermostat heater (water inlet with thermostat sub-assembly) connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F5-2 (ETM-) or C45-7 (HTHM) - other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
