DTC U1150-87: Lost Communication with Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (Hybrid/EV Battery Local Bus) Missing Message [06/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV BATTERY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / HV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check and record any HV battery DTCs and freeze frame data. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > HV Battery > Trouble Codes 

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs related to Hybrid Control are not output. A
      DTCs related to Hybrid Control are output. B
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM) 

    Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [12/2021 - 11/2024] , or refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [11/2024 - ]

  2. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (VOLTAGE) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Battery ECU Assembly)
      - -

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A29-11 (+B1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
      A30-1 (+B2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Turn the ignition switch off.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2023 - ]

    3. Disconnect the z26 battery ECU assembly connector.
      NOTE:
      • Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.
      • Check the terminals of the connector for deformation and corrosion.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z26-25 (CA1H) - z26-26 (CA1L) Ignition switch off 108 to 132 Ω

    5. Reconnect the z26 battery ECU assembly connector.
    6. Install the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to REMOVAL [10/2023 - ]

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - BATTERY ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the ignition switch to ON (READY), unless instructed by the appropriate service information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the A31 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
      NOTE:

      Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.

    3. Remove the No. 1 HV battery hose.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [06/2020 - 08/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [08/2020 - 12/2021] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [12/2021 - 10/2022] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2022 - 10/2023] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 23 [10/2023 - ]

    4. Disconnect the z26 battery ECU assembly connector.

      NOTE:
      • Before disconnecting the connector, check that it is not loose or disconnected.
      • Check the terminals of the connector for deformation and corrosion.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      z26-25 (CA1H) - A31-9 (CA4H) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z26-26 (CA1L) - A31-22 (CA4L) Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
      z26-25 (CA1H) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      z26-26 (CA1L) - Other terminals and body ground Ignition switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    6. Reconnect the z26 battery ECU assembly connector.
    7. Install the No. 1 HV battery hose.
    8. Reconnect the A31 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
