Transmission Control Switch Circuit [06/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS SHIFT POSITION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Shift Position.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sports Shift Position
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Sports Shift Position Sports shift position 0 to 255 Shift lever in S, "+" or "-": 1 to 6
      Shift lever in any position other than S, "+" and "-": 255

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The tester display changes according to the shift lever operation. A

    5. Turn the ignition switch off.

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SPORTS SHIFT UP SIGNAL, SPORTS SHIFT DOWN SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Sports Shift UP Signal, Sports Shift DOWN Signal.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Sports Shift UP Signal
      Sports Shift DOWN Signal
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List

      Sports Shift UP Signal Operation of "+" transmission control switch. ON or OFF Shift lever held in "+" operated: ON
      Shift lever in S: OFF

  3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the G23 transmission control switch (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G23-4 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G23-4 (IG) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 V
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G23-2 (E) - Body ground Ignition switch off Below 1 Ω
    7. Reconnect the G23 transmission control switch (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:

    CHECK POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G23 transmission control switch (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G23-4 (IG) - G23-5 (S) Shift lever in S
      Shift lever held in "+" or "-"
      Below 1 Ω
      G23-4 (IG) - G23-5 (S) Shift lever in any position except S 10 kΩ or higher
      G23-3 (SFTU) - G23-2 (E) Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      G23-3 (SFTU) - G23-2 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      G23-1 (SFTD) - G23-2 (E) Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the A30 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A30-25 (M) - Body ground Ignition switch ON
      Shift lever in S, "+" or "-"
      11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch ON
      Except shift lever in S, "+" and "-"
      Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      If the ignition switch is turned to ON with the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector disconnected, other DTCs will be stored. After performing the inspection, clear the DTCs.

    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A30-24 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      A30-24 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      A30-11 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω
      A30-11 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
    6. Reconnect the A30 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2019 - 08/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2020 - 12/2021]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - 10/2022]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2022 - 10/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [10/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  7. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G23 transmission control switch (shift lock control unit assembly) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G23-3 (SFTU) - G23-2 (E) Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      G23-3 (SFTU) - G23-2 (E) Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      G23-1 (SFTD) - G23-2 (E) Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY) - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A30 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A30-24 (SFTU) - Body ground Shift lever held in "+" Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher
      A30-11 (SFTD) - Body ground Shift lever held in "-" Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever in S 10 kΩ or higher

    3. Reconnect the A30 hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
