Removal [11/2018 - ]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Refer to INITIALIZATION [11/2018 - ]

  2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  4. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE:

    If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

  5. DISCONNECT FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE 
    1. Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the front flexible hose from the disc brake cylinder assembly.

  6. REMOVE DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Hold the front disc brake cylinder slide pin and front No. 2 brake disc cylinder slide pin and remove the 2 bolts and disc brake cylinder assembly.

      *b Turn
  7. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD KIT 
    1. Remove the 2 front disc brake pads from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  8. REMOVE FRONT ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 8

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 PAD WEAR INDICATOR PLATE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 9

  10. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE FITTING KIT 
    1. Remove the 2 front No. 1 disc brake pad support plates and 2 front No. 2 disc brake pad support plates from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.
      NOTE:

      Each front disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each front No. 1 disc brake pad support plates and 2 front No. 2 disc brake pad support plates so that it can be reinstalled to its original position.

  11. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN 
    1. Remove the front disc brake cylinder slide pin from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

      *2 Front No. 2 Disc Brake Cylinder Slide Pin
  12. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure for the front disc brake cylinder slide pin side.

  13. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH 
    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the front disc brake cylinder slide bush from the front No. 2 disc brake cylinder slide pin.
      NOTE:

      Do not damage the front No. 2 disc brake cylinder slide pin.

  14. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT 
    1. Remove the 2 front disc brake bush dust boots from the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  15. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and front disc brake cylinder mounting from the steering knuckle.

  16. REMOVE FRONT DISC 
    1. Put matchmarks on the front disc and the front axle hub sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the front disc.
