INSPECT BRAKE DISC INSIDE DIAMETER

Using a brake drum gauge or an equivalent tool, measure the inside diameter of the rear disc.

Standard Inside Diameter

180 mm (7.09 in.)

Maximum Inside Diameter

181 mm (7.13 in.)

If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the rear disc.

INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SHOE LINING THICKNESS

Using a ruler, measure the thickness of the parking brake shoe lining.

Standard Thickness

3.2 mm (0.126 in.)

Minimum Thickness

1.0 mm (0.0394 in.)

NOTE:

Always replace both right and left parking brake shoes together.

If the lining thickness is less than the minimum, or if there is severe or uneven wear, replace the parking brake shoe assembly.

INSPECT BRAKE DISC AND PARKING BRAKE SHOE LINING FOR PROPER CONTACT

Apply chalk to the inside surface of the rear disc, then slide the brake shoe against the rear disc to check the fit of the brake shoe lining to the rear disc.

If the contact between the disc and brake shoe lining is incorrect, repair it using a brake shoe grinder or replace the rear brake shoe assembly.
NOTE:
- Always replace both right and left parking brake shoes together.
- Wipe off the chalk after inspection.
