DTC B2799: Immobilizer Malfunction [06/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Register the ECU communication ID.

      Refer to REGISTRATION [06/2015 - ]

  2. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Powertrain > EV > Clear DTCs 

      Result

  3. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Perform "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" procedure.
    2. Check for DTCs.

      Powertrain > EV > Trouble Codes 

      OK

      DTC B2799 is not output.

  4. INSPECT EV CONTROL ECU (TERMINAL IMO) 
    1. Using an oscilloscope, check the waveform.

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Item Content
      Tester Connection G46-23 (IMO) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.
      Condition Within 3 seconds of hybrid control system start or within 3 seconds of power switch turned on (IG) after auxiliary battery cable disconnected and reconnected

      OK

      The waveform is similar to that shown in the illustration

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Normal waveform A
      Terminal IMO stuck low (2.4 V or less) B
      Terminal IMO stuck high (11 to 14 V) or Abnormal waveform C

  5. INSPECT EV CONTROL ECU (TERMINAL IMI)

      Tester Connection G46-22 (IMI) - Body ground
      Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.
      Condition Within 3 seconds of hybrid control system start or within 3 seconds of power switch turned on (IG) after auxiliary battery cable disconnected and reconnected

  6. REGISTER ECU COMMUNICATION ID 
    1. Register the ECU communication ID.

  7. CHECK WHETHER HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM STARTS 
    1. Check that the hybrid control system starts.

      OK

      Hybrid control system starts normally.

    REPLACE EV CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2015 - 11/2018]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ] 

  8. INSPECT EV CONTROL ECU (IMO TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the EV control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Result
      G46-23 (IMO) - Body ground Power switch off 2.4 V or less (stuck low)
      11 to 14 V (stuck high)

      Terminal IMO stuck low (2.4 V or less) A
      Terminal IMO stuck high (11 to 14 V) B

    Result: 

    REPLACE EV CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2015 - 11/2018]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [11/2018 - ]

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX (IMMOBILIZER CODE ECU) - EV CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the G15 ID code box (immobilizer code ECU) connector.
    2. Disconnect the G46 EV control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G15-4 (EFIO) - G46-22 (IMI) Always Below 1 Ω
      G15-3 (EFII) - G46-23 (IMO) Always Below 1 Ω
      G15-4 (EFIO) or G46-22 (IMI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G15-3 (EFII) or G46-23 (IMO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result
