DTC B15C4: Airbag Signal Malfunction/Not Input [06/2015 - 01/2018]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC (AIRBAG SYSTEM) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG) and wait for 10 seconds.
    4. Turn the Techstream on.
    5. Check the DTC of "AIRBAG SYSTEM".

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [06/2015 - ]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs are not output A
      DTCs are output B

    Result: 

    GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART [06/2015 - ]

  2. CHECK DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) (GSW SIGNAL) 
    1. Remove the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) but do not disconnect the connectors.

      *a Component with harness connected
      (DCM [Telematics Transceiver])

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - 01/2018]

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G55-24 (GSW) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Pulse generation

      Reference Waveform

      Item Condition
      Tester connection G55-24 (GSW) - Body ground
      Tool setting 5.0 V/DIV., 20 ms/DIV.
      Vehicle condition Power switch on (IG)

      Result

      8.5 V or higher A
      Below 6.5 V B
      Pulse generation C

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FOR OPEN CIRCUIT) 
    1. Remove the airbag ECU assembly but do not disconnect the connectors.

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - 11/2018]

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G33-25 (GSW3) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 8.5 V or higher

      Reference Waveform

      Item Condition
      Tester connection G33-25 (GSW3) - Body ground
      Tool setting 5.0 V/DIV., 20 ms/DIV.
      Vehicle condition Power switch on (IG)

      (Airbag ECU Assembly)

      Result

      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2015 - 11/2018] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FOR SHORT CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the G55 DCM (Telematics Transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the G33 airbag ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G55-24 (GSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G33-25 (GSW3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG

  5. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Replace the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).

      Refer to REMOVAL [06/2015 - 01/2018]

      NOTE:
      • The power switch must be off.
      • Do not swap the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) with one from another vehicle.

    Result:

  6. PERFORM PRL UPDATE 
    1. Perform "PRL UPDATE".

      Refer to PRL UPDATE [06/2015 - 01/2018]

    PERFORM DCM ACTIVATION. Refer to  DCM ACTIVATION [06/2015 - 01/2018] 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM [TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER] - AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G55 DCM (Telematics Transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the G33 airbag ECU assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G55-24 (GSW) - G33-25 (GSW3) Always Below 1 Ω
      G55-24 (GSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G33-25 (GSW3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [06/2015 - 11/2018] 

    Result: 

    NG
