Air Conditioning Compressor Magnetic Clutch Circuit [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Using the Techstream, check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

      Refer to HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      Result

      CAN communication system DTCs are not output A
      CAN communication system DTCs are output B

    Result:  2

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

  2. CHECK SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU 
    1. Using a voltmeter, check the signal reading of the semiconductor pwr integration ECU.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [12/2013 - 11/2016]

      OK

      A normal signal reading is output.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    CHECK SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU (RESULT OF SIGNAL READING). Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [12/2013 - 11/2016] 

    Result:  1

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU - POWER SOURCE AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Remove the semiconductor pwr integration ECU from the No. 1 engine room relay block and No. 1 junction block assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [12/2013 - ]

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1A-1 (ALT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      1B-1 (BATT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1D-14 (GND1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      1G-5 (GND2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU - COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the C12 cooler compressor assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1D-12 (ACOP) - C12-3 (MG+) Always Below 1 Ω
      1D-12 (ACOP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEMICONDUCTOR PWR INTEGRATION ECU - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F80 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1D-4 (ACOS) - F80-20 (MGC) Always Below 1 Ω
      1D-4 (ACOS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result:  2

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result:  1

    OK

  6. CHECK MAGNETIC CLUTCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the magnetic clutch assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 (MG+) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 3.8 to 4.2 Ω

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Cooler Compressor Assembly)
    3. When connector terminal 3 (MG+) is connected to a positive (+) battery terminal, check that the following occurs: 1) the magnetic clutch operating sound can be heard, and 2) the magnetic clutch hub and rotor lock.

      OK

      1) The magnetic clutch assembly operating sound can be heard, and 2) the magnet clutch hub and rotor lock.

      Result

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2013 - 11/2016]
