On-Vehicle Inspection [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

- INSPECT TRANSFER OIL
- Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug and gasket from the transfer assembly.
- Check that the oil level is between 0 and 5 mm (0 and 0.197 in.) from the bottom lip of the case plug hole.
*a 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.197 in.) NOTE:- When inspecting the transfer oil, make sure that the vehicle is level.
- An excessively large or small amount of oil may cause damage.
- After adding transfer oil, drive the vehicle and recheck the oil level.
- Check for oil leakage if the oil level is low.
- Install a new gasket to the No. 1 transfer case plug and then tighten the plug.
Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf)
- Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug and gasket from the transfer assembly.
- ADJUST TRANSFER OIL
- Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug and gasket from the transfer assembly.
- Add transfer oil until the oil level is between 0 and 5 mm (0 and 0.197 in.) from the bottom lip of the case plug hole.
*a 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.197 in.) NOTE:- When adding transfer oil, make sure that the vehicle is level.
- Add transfer oil a little at a time, waiting several minutes between each addition of transfer oil.
- After adding transfer oil, drive the vehicle and recheck the oil level.
Oil Type
Toyota Genuine Differential gear oil LT API GL-5 or equivalent
Viscosity
SAE 75W-85
Standard Capacity
0.8 liters (0.8 US qts, 0.7 Imp.qts)
- After waiting for approximately 5 minutes, recheck the oil level.
- Install a new gasket and the No. 1 transfer case plug to the transfer assembly.
Torque: 49 N*m (500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf)
