On-Vehicle Inspection [12/2013 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the throttle control motor operating sound.
      1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      2. When depressing the accelerator pedal, check the operating sound of the throttle control motor. Make sure that no friction noise is emitted from the throttle control motor.

        If any friction noise exists, replace the throttle body with motor assembly.

    2. Check the throttle position sensor.
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Start the engine.
      3. Turn the Techstream on.
      4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Throttle Sensor Position.

        Powertrain > Engine > Data List

        Throttle Sensor Position
      5. Fully depress the accelerator pedal. When the throttle valve is fully open, check that the Throttle Sensor Position value is within specification.

        Standard Throttle Valve Opening Percentage

        Tester Display Specified Condition
        Throttle Sensor Position 60% or higher
        NOTE:
        • When checking the throttle valve opening percentage, the shift lever should be in P or N.
        • Fully depress the accelerator pedal.

        If the percentage is less than 60%, check the throttle body with motor assembly, wire harness and ECM.
