DTC P1631: Communication Error from ECM to VSC [12/2013 - 11/2016]: Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 Toyota Highlander, 2015 Toyota Highlander, and 2014 Toyota Highlander. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The ECM sends signals such as A/T information signals, dynamic radar cruise control operation signals, brake operation demand signals, and buzzer operation demand signals to the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) when the dynamic radar cruise control is operating. The ECM is the only component that has a function to store and output DTCs in the dynamic radar cruise control system. Therefore, if the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) detects a communication error from the ECM, it sends a malfunction signal back to the ECM.
| DTC No. | Detection Item | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1631 | Communication Error from ECM to VSC | While the dynamic radar cruise control is either preparing for operation or operating, the ECM continuously receives a logic error signal from the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) for a certain amount of time, the ECM stores this DTC. |
